Regional Field Service Engineer I - West Coast

Customer Technical Support. This includes product phone support, traveling on-site to install or repair products, training of customers, and assist with return to factory repair and support. Expect to travel up to 80% of the time across the west coast, and 20% outside the region. Expense reports and repair reports must be completed accurately and punctually.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Dispatched from Engineers home base.
  • Perform work necessary to successfully complete new instrument installations, instrument upgrades, maintenance, and repairs, application troubleshooting, and other related service functions. Involves direct support of Cannon software applications on customer’s computer.
  • Must maintain daily contact with Service Scheduling Coordinator.
  • Responsible for filing field service reports upon completion of all service, installation, and support jobs.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Relocation to West Coast is required.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude.
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong technical problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Petroleum laboratory experience with distillation and flash point testers is desired but not required.
  • Licensed motor-vehicle operator with valid automobile driver’s license.
  • Experience in the following areas is preferred but not required:
    • microprocessors, sensitive digital and analog circuitry, and sensors
    • electro-mechanical instrumentation
    • phone and communications support

Glass Viscometer Cleaner

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Cleaning glass capillary viscometers, following the S.L.O.P. and oral directions.
  • Maintain support equipment used in the cleaning of glass capillary viscometers.
  • Maintain a necessary amount of cleaning chemicals in proper containers.
  • Transfer waste oil from temporary containers to bulk waste containers in chemical room.
  • Transfer oily rags from temporary container to bulk container in chemical room.
  • Transfer glass capillary viscometers that require further testing to filling station.
  • Transfer completed glass capillary viscometers to measurement/packaging area.
  • Maintain an orderly clean and uncluttered work station.
  • Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer knowledge is necessary.
  • Laboratory work experience in an analytical chemistry lab is preferable but not required.
  • Good communication skills are a must.
