Research Engineer
CANNON® Instrument Company is looking for a Research Engineer to work within the product development team to research and develop novel technologies for future laboratory and industrial instrumentation relating to the physical properties of liquids and semi solids. Provide hands-on engineering and physics expertise required for the research, design, development, and validation of working concept prototypes. Assist the development team with moving successful concepts forward to the launch of new products. Provide research and engineering assistance with adaptations and performance improvements to existing instrumentation.
Duties Include:
- Research and evaluate existing technologies and patents and develop new novel approaches for the measurement of physical properties of liquids and semi-solid fluids.
- Advance existing company intellectual property and know-how towards working concept prototypes for purposes of validating performance.
- Design and develop working prototype electro-mechanical instrumentation.
- Design and carry out experiments for purposes of validating concepts and prototype instruments and sub-systems.
- Provide technical support relating to these technologies to the product development team and engineering group.
Requirements:
- This position requires a Master’s of Science in Chemical Engineering, Material Science or other related technical discipline.
- This position requires strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in a product development and experimental design environment required.
- This position requires a proactive and self-motivated individual.

Field Engineer
CANNON® Instrument Company is looking for two Field Service Technicians to work within the Field Service team to provide excellent customer service as well as installation and repairs services to our customers internationally. This position requires extensive travel both domestic and internationally.
Duties Include:
- Must be available for local dispatch from State College for required domestic and international installations, service requests, and dealer support – as scheduled.
- Perform work necessary to successfully complete new instrument installations, instrument upgrades, maintenance, and repairs, application troubleshooting, and other related service functions. Involves direct support of Cannon software applications on customer’s computer.
- Must maintain daily contact with the Service Scheduling Coordinator.
- Responsible for filing field service reports upon completion of all service, installation, and support jobs.
- Assist with in-house phone support, service correspondence, and repairs – when on-site.
- Assist with in-house product training programs as required.
- Develop and maintain service software database.
- Issue monthly reports on Plans/objectives/progress of the database.
- Issue monthly department queries/reports
Requirements:
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience with field service for electro-mechanical instrumentation.
- Experience with microprocessors, sensitive digital and analog circuitry, and sensors.
- Experience with MS-DOS and Windows based applications and PC platforms.
- Strong technical problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience providing phone and communications support for customer service.
- Experience with Windows based word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Licensed motor-vehicle operator with valid automobile driver’s license.
- Valid U.S. passport is required.
